Praise for Evangelos Marinakis as Nottingham Forest transfer link addressed

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has converted £41 million worth of loans into shares, in a "further significant financial commitment" to the club.

A “statement of capital following an allotment of shares” has been published on the Companies House website showing equity changes at the club. It details how £41m worth of loans have been converted into equity to further support the Reds in the 2021/22 financial year, stating that “the shares were allotted in consideration of a waiver of a debt of £41,000,000.

Converting the loans into equity takes the debt off Forest and is seen as an indication of Marinakis’ investment in the club. It is something the Greek businessman has done for the last few years, since taking over in 2017.

Agent talk

The agent of Nottingham Forest-linked Angelo Gabriel has addressed the transfer speculation.

Santos forward Gabriel was linked with a move to the Premier League in January, and Forest reportedly pushed to sign him before the window closed, but he remained in Brazil.

But there continues to be a lot of speculation over the 18-year-old's future.

Asked if there had been any offers from England for the youngster, Marisa Alija told Premier League Brasil : "At the moment, it's all speculation.

Transfer interest

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has provided an update on the future of reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Jacob Greaves.

The defender has been linked with a big money move to the City Ground this summer as Forest look to strengthen their squad for what they hope will be a second successive season in the Premier League. Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest.

But a potential stumbling block to any transfer could be that Greaves signed a long-term deal with the Tigers until 2026 just a few months ago. However, the Hull City head coach has admitted that a decision on the defender's future will be made in the best interests of his club.

As reported by Hull Live, Rosenior said: "It's wonderful that a player who has come through our academy has been spoken about in this way. I love it when my players are being linked with clubs higher up because it means they're doing a good job and it means the team is doing a good job.

Injury update

Defender Serge Aurier is desperate to be fit for Nottingham Forest’s trip to face Tottenham Hotspur next week.

The right-back picked up a calf strain during the 1-1 draw with Manchester City, which ruled him out of last weekend’s trip to West Ham United and is likely to mean he misses Sunday’s crunch clash at home to Everton. Aurier has previously said he hoped he would be out of action for just 10 to 15 days, but head coach Steve Cooper has suggested it could be a three to four-week lay-off.

The 30-year-old would love to be back in time to face his former club, though, after spending four years at Spurs from 2017 until 2021. He is also keen to make a swift return to aid the Reds’ survival bid.

“I will try my best, because I want to play there,” Aurier said of the trip to the capital. “I saw everyone when we played the game here and won. We spoke about life and everything; I enjoyed it.
