During Oscar Week in Los Angeles, Prada has taken a unique approach by collaborating with German artist Carsten Höller to create an ephemeral nightclub experience inside a massive warehouse in downtown Los Angeles. The Double Club Los Angeles, as it's called, is a pop-up event that will run for two nights as a private installation and club before opening to the public on Oscars day.
Inside the warehouse, guests will find multiple bars, a brightly-lit central performance stage adorned with colorful bulbs, and three vintage amusement park rides including a carousel, swing ride, and the Silver Streak. This collaboration with Luna Luna, a vintage art amusement park nearby, adds to the eclectic atmosphere of the space.
Höller's concept for the installation involves a progressive floor plan that divides the space in a mathematically derived layout, creating a unique experience for visitors. The artist aims to blend mathematical precision with the enjoyment of the space, offering a contrast between rational design and entertainment.
As part of the Prada Mode cultural series, the private club nights at The Double Club will feature musical performances curated by Höller and Drake, who supports the restoration of Luna Luna. Höller hopes that visitors will find the Double Club to be a source of pure entertainment that can transport them and evoke a sense of aliveness while maintaining a rational foundation.
This collaboration between Prada and Carsten Höller exemplifies a creative and immersive approach to nightlife and art, offering guests a one-of-a-kind experience during Oscar Week in Los Angeles.
