One of the original stars of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has died. Jason David Frank has died aged 49.
Frank starred as the Green Power Ranger in the original TV series, which launched in 1993. He initially starred as one of the villains of the show but due to the popularity of his character, he was brought back to lead the heroes as the White Ranger.
His representative, Justine Hunt, told confirmed the actor's death to TMZ, Mr Hunt said: "Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being.
"He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed."
Frank played the role of Tommy in the later iterations of the Power Rangers Franchise, including 'Wild Force,' 'Turbo,' 'Zeo,' 'Dino Thunder,' 'Megaforce,' 'Ninja Steel,' 'HyperForce'. He was also a trained martial artist and was a professional fighter from 2008 to 2010. He developed his own style of American Karate called Toso Kune Do.
Jason David Frank is survived by his four children.
Walter E Jones, who co-starred on Power Rangers as the Black Rangers, issued a brief tribute on social media. He said: “RIP Jason David Frank. My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family.”
Frank's friend and trainer, Mike Bronzoulis said: “Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him. Love n prayers for his wife Tammy and their kids, I pray that God gets you all through this difficult time.”
