A new amber thunderstorm warning has been issued by the Met Office covering the northwest of England and Wales as the country is hit with flash floods and power cuts.
Commuters travelling home have been met by torrential downpours and difficult driving conditions with more than a foot of water building up on some roads.
Now the Met Office has issued a fresh amber warning.
It states: "Thunderstorms continue slowly towards the northwest, and are likely to bring surface water flooding, impacting property and travel."
People have also been told that some areas are likely to be cut off due to roads flooding and that power cuts may well also happen.
The warning continued: "Flooding of homes and businesses is likely and could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely. Spray and sudden flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
"Some communities likely to become temporarily cut off if roads flood. Power cuts likely to occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
Earlier an amber warning alert for thunderstorms was issued from 3.21pm until 7pm that covered the central part of England.
And the Environment Agency issued 14 flood alerts across the Midlands over concerns heavy, thundery showers could cause large amounts of surface water.
The thunderstorms have come following several days of hot weather where the temperature has risen above 30C in some spots.
There is likely to be more warm weather for the rest of this week and there is also likely to be more settled conditions by Tuesday.
Before that though, it is going to be a very wet evening with London Fire Brigade having said it has been called to several reports of flooding across the city with drainage systems unable to cope with the sudden deluge.
It has also warned people not to drive through floods as it can “float a car”.
It tweeted: “We have been called to several reports of flooding across London this afternoon following thunderstorms, affecting roads and properties Never drive through floodwater - a foot of moving water at just 6mph is enough to float a car. Always try and find an alternative route.”
Further north a victory parade by Manchester City had to be delayed in the city centre due to the downpour.
