High street budget retailer Poundland has made an announcement to all its shoppers. The retail giant is changing its prices, and is also opening more stores in the UK.
As well as opening new stores, the discount store will be selling items for 1p every Wednesday on its website. Poundland customers should keep their eyes peeled on Wednesdays, when the retailer will stock one item for just 1p at Poundshop.com. Elbow Grease Degreaser Original 500ml is currently the one penny coveted item.
Poundland has also vowed to reduce key household items to a £1 as part of its Value Heroes campaign. It's like the old days once again.

Speaking about Value Heroes, Poundland's website reads: "We know it’s getting more and more expensive to live right now, and here at Poundshop.com we want to help.
"That’s why we’ve put together our Value Heroes, a range of £1 household staples you know, love and need. We’re committed to keeping your favourites affordable - and your life on track – so you can beat inflation and get the products you need without breaking the bank."
The first round of new shop openings will happen between August and September as part of the discounter's latest expansion plans. Poundland has yet to reveal all the locations of its new or relocated stores, but it has confirmed the shops that are on track to open in the next few weeks.
You can see a full list of all the towns and cities confirmed so far at the bottom of this article. Poundland is expected to announce further locations in the coming weeks.
The planned summer openings will offer create 150 full and part-time jobs. Poundland has also today announced that it will cut the price of 1,000 items, across DIY, gardening, kitchenware, homeware and stationery.
Savings include a robot block pencil case reduced to 25p, while in gardening, sale items include a Squirrel feeder for just £2. Its newly-acquired Poundshop.com business has also unveiled a Value Heroes range, which includes a selection of £1 household staples.
This includes Fairy Washing Up liquid, Flash Cleaner and Men’s Nivea Shower Gel for £1. Poundshop.com is also offering an item for just one penny each Wednesday, beginning today with Elbow Grease Degreaser Original (500ml).
Finally, Poundland says it is on track to rollout its range of chilled and frozen food to 350 stores. Commercial director, Tim Bettley, said: “We’re acutely aware how important value-for-money is right now for our customers – and that’s why whether it’s across grocery, clothing or homewares, we’re doubling down on our promise of amazing value."
Chief operating officer, Austin Cooke, added: “The pressure on customers from inflation is real. While we’re serving more shoppers, that’s partly offset by customers being more intentional about what they’re putting in the baskets.
“That’s why we’re determined to bring more value to more places, in store and through our new online business.”

Three more locations are set to be announced by Poundland in September, with a further 15 new openings or relocations in the pipeline for October to December. It will include high streets stores, shops in retail parks and its new Poundland Local convenience store format.
Poundland has almost 900 stores across the UK.
