Poundland opens UK's largest ever store selling clothes, beauty and food

It's the store that has become synonymous for providing low priced products and now shoppers will be able to find a lot more on offer in a store named the UK's largest.

The high-street giant Poundland officially opened their doors to their largest ever store in the UK this weekend and it features their biggest selection of products yet.

Poundland's mega-store opened in Nottingham’s Riverside Retail Park at 8am on Saturday, February 12, and shoppers can pick up everything from clothing to their weekly groceries.

Ahead of the stores grand opening this weekend, Nottinghamshire Live was provided with an exclusive sneak peak to see what was on offer.

The mega-store boasts 15,000 square feet and is twice the size of a regular Poundland store found on the high-street.

It employs 75 staff members, making it the biggest ever team employed at the budget store.

From their largest ever selection of Pep&Co Clothing and homeware to more health and beauty departments, the store will celebrate a number of firsts for the chain.

The high-street chain will also expand it's offering of brands in-stores as the store features partnerships with Haribo, Crayola, Ty, Disney, and Warner Brothers

The new store also marks the first time that the retailer has stocked stocked small domestic appliances, with Russell Hobbs' electric hand mixers, irons and, toasters and kettles on sale.

And that's not all, as the budget retailers first superstore will also be home to a large selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and frozen food in a bid to help cash-strapped shoppers.

It marks the first time the chain has stocked fresh food in a main store following trials in several convenience stores, reports the BBC.

News of the new budget mega store comes amidst the cost of living crisis, as shoppers look for ways to reduce their costs while grappling with higher prices.

Poundland has also said to be planning on opening more larger stores across the UK in the near future, following Nottingham's grand opening.
