Poundland has announced that it is doubling the amount of items it sells for £1 or less across its UK stores as part of a substantial cost of living drive.
Despite what the name suggests, prices at the retailer actually range from 50p up to £5 - and everything inbetween.
Examples of items hitting the new £1 or less promotion include household essentials like Gillette Shaving Foam (200ml), Domestos Bleach (750ml) and Toilet Duck Pine (750ml).

The Mirror reports that Poundland first started pushing out more £1 or less products back in June this year, in a bid to help more shoppers who are struggling with their finances. It will also continue to expand its frozen and chilled food range to more stores - dubbed 'Project Diamond' - with Poundland naming the next 25 locations.

By the autumn, around 350 stores will stock chilled and frozen food, alongside PEP&CO clothing and homewares. Poundland brought its 'Project Diamond' makeover to around 50 stores this summer.
Austin Cooke, Poundland’s chief operating officer, said: “Right across the country, our colleagues are working hard to bring their communities more value, in more places, on the items they want and need, week in, week out.
“And as we extend into exciting new categories such as chilled and frozen food and clothing, whether customers want a full shop or to top-up, we’re continuing our mission to deliver the very best value, on the items we know our customers need most.”
The announcement from Poundland comes just a week after the discounter began the roll-out of new fresh meat and fish lines sold under the 'Cookit' brand. Its initial range includes 11 items including ribs, steaks, bacon, sausages, mince, salmon and cod fillets, starting at just £1.
