Potter handed triple boost, Bruno involvement: Things spotted in Chelsea training ahead of Milan

Chelsea held a training session in front of the cameras at Cobham on Tuesday morning as the squad prepare for a crucial Champions League match with AC Milan.

The Blues are on just one point following their opening two matches in Group E and will be desperate for a win on Wednesday evening. The group leaders, Milan, come to Stamford Bridge after picking up four points from their opening two matches.

It will be Graham Potter's biggest challenge yet as Chelsea head coach after being appointed last month. In his opening two matches, Potter has witnessed his team draw 1-1 with Red Bull Salzburg and pick up a late winner in a 2-1 victory away at Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Chelsea are now going through their final preparations ahead of the trip of Milan. The club broadcast a small section of the training session that took place on Tuesday morning, so football.london takes a look at the biggest talking points from the brief part of the session.

Kante and Cucurella boost

N'Golo Kante and Marc Cucurella both trained with the first-team squad at Cobham following their respective absences. Kante has been sidelined since August with a hamstring problem but he was present at training, signifying his comeback is near.

Meanwhile, Cucurella, who missed Saturday's win at Crystal Palace through illness, was also at Cobham with his team-mates. Carney Chukwuemeka was also there after missing the weekend's game with illness.

Bruno involvement

The collective working of Potter's coaching staff was on display at Cobham. Bruno Saltor Grau, who came with Potter from Brighton, was running an intense passing drill.

Former Brighton defender Bruno oversaw the drill and also set it up beforehand. The drill consisted of one-touch passing from the Chelsea players, who were split up into small groups.

Goalkeeper decision

A big decision for Potter on Wednesday is who starts between the posts for Chelsea. Edouard Mendy was training with the senior squad on Tuesday morning as he nears his recovery from a knee problem that has kept him sidelined for the last two matches.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is the man who has taken Mendy's place in the starting line-up, but it's likely the latter will replace the former once he is 100% fit. Whether the Senegal international is in peak condition right now ahead of the Milan clash remains to be seen. It's a huge decision for Potter in what is a massive game at Stamford Bridge.
