North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye has officially decided to forego playing in Duke’s Mayo Bowl against West Virginia and declare for the 2024 NFL draft.
Maye made the announcement on his social media on Monday.
“Tar Heel Nation, the best fans out there,” Maye posted. “You have made my time at UNC truly special, thank ya’ll. I have decided to forego the bowl game and declare for the NFL Draft. Forever and always, Go Heels!”
Maye has been projected by many to likely be one of the top-three picks of the draft, along with USC quarterback Caleb Williams and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

There’s a chance the New England Patriots end up with one of the top-three picks, and they’ll be in the market for a quarterback. If the season ended today, they would pick No. 2 overall behind the Chicago Bears, who own the Carolina Panthers’ first-round draft pick.
Maye has the prototypical size with a rocket for an arm to make all of the big throws. He’s the sort of generational talent that could wipe away the current offensive nightmare and set the Patriots up for success for years to come.
