Potential Hornets No. 2 Pick Annoyed by One Narrative About Him, LaMelo Ball

With the 2023 NBA draft order now set, all eyes look to which top prospects will land where and one player addressed rumors that he isn’t a fan of his potential landing spot.

Victory Wembanyama is all but a lock to go No. 1 to the Spurs, putting the Hornets’ choice at No. 2 under a microscope. Most mock drafts have either Scoot Henderson, who plays for the G League’s Ignite, or Alabama’s Brandon Miller as the second-best player in the draft. But since Charlotte already has a point guard in LaMelo Ball and is in need of a wing-like Miller, Henderson isn’t expected to go No. 2. But it ticks him off that people don’t think two point guards can work in a backcourt.

“It kind of does, honestly,” Henderson said, per The Charlotte Observer. “I love seeing the two point guards. I love seeing that in action, actually. Jordan Poole and [Steph] Curry and how they used to operate in their time. I love seeing two good guards. It’s fun to watch.

“I think I can play with anybody,” he continued. “I’m not too ball dominant. I do multiple things that impact the game, and wherever I go I’m going to be a winner. I’m going to keep that mentality in myself. Whatever team I go to, I’m going to impact the community and impact the city, and I’m going to impact the locker room.”

This past season, Henderson averaged 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest. The 2023 draft is set for June 22.
