Tony Bloom has added to his football club portfolio amid the potential of the businessman buying a stake in Heart of Midlothian.
The owner of Brighton & Hove Albion has invested in Australian side Melbourne Victory.
He revealed a family connection after agreeing to purchase a 19.1 per cent holding with the scope to increase it in the future.
It comes after months of discussions between Bloom and the Tynecastle club over the purchase of a minority shareholding. Hearts already has a partnership with Bloom's recruitment company, Jamestown Analytics.
Bloom now has shares in Melbourne Victory as well as Belgian Pro-League side Union Saint-Gilloise.
Bloom told the A-League side's website: “As a passionate football supporter, I am excited to have the opportunity to become a shareholder in Melbourne Victory, one of the most successful clubs in A-League history.
“My investment reflects my confidence in the club’s vision and leadership, and I see tremendous potential in the club for further growth and success, both on and off the pitch.
“My wife is from Australia and, whenever possible, the two of us and our children enjoy spending time there each year. I am especially delighted that we now have a ‘home club’ in Australia to support.
"The club’s leadership know that I am available to them whenever needed to help in driving continued progress and success for Melbourne Victory.”
