Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has said even Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah would not be able to flourish at injury-hit Spurs.
Liverpool talisman Salah has been enjoying arguably the best season of his professional career. The 32-year-old, who sees his contract expire on 30th June 2025, has been creating chances out of thin air and popping up with decisive strikes with remarkable ease.
Since the start of the 2024-25 season, Salah has scored 21 goals and provided 17 assists in 27 games for the Merseysiders in all competitions. With 18 goals and 13 assists to his name, the ‘Egyptian King’ is the leading goalscorer as well as assist provider in the Premier League.
Ange Postecoglou Explains Why Liverpool Star Mohamed Salah Would Struggle at Tottenham Hotspur
It seems as if Salah could improve any team in the world, including Tottenham Hotspur, who have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions.
Ahead of Liverpool’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash on Wednesday (8th January), Postecoglou was asked whether Salah would enjoy his purple patch even at Spurs.

Here is what he had to say (via Eurosport):
“Mo is a world-class player, but if you put him in our team now I’m not sure he’ll have that same level of performance because of the situation we’re in as a group.
“His attacking play, who do you need? You need a team that’s kind of in good form, creating opportunities, playing on the front foot, having a really solid foundation of a defence that is cohesive. None of these things exist at the moment.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s lacklustre showings have put Postecoglou under immense pressure. The Lilywhites have only picked up 24 points from 20 Premier League outings so far, slipping to 12th place in the rankings. Their opponents, Liverpool, meanwhile, have been on a dream run, with them amassing 46 points from 19 games and climbing to the top of the Premier League standings.
The two sides have already met once this season, with it ending in a wildly entertaining nine-goal spectacular. The Merseysiders emerged victorious in that game, claiming a 6-3 win.
