Post Office statement as plan announced to move store in Arnold

A proposal has been put forward for a town's Post Office to move. There are plans to move Arnold Post Office, currently on Worrall Avenue, to a new location at The AMP building at Arnold Market Place.

The Post Office has said tthe reasoning behind the potential move is the area in which the current branch is located is being redeveloped and there has been an opportunity identified to move Arnold Post Office into an alternative location to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community. The proposed premises, which is currently being built at The AMP at Arnold Market Place, would incorporate Arnold Post Office under the newly revealed plans.

According to the Post Office, the new site would allow people to access Post Office services in a modern, open-plan environment alongside the operator’s retail services. The Post Office have started a local consolation over the idea, which will run from March 31 to May 12, with the proposed moving period sometime in June or July this year.

They have said they want to hear how easily accessible the new location would be for customers and whether any local community issues would be created by the move. A statement from the Post Office said: "Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term and the postmaster firmly believes that the move will help secure continued access to Post Office services locally, as well as supporting the viability of their business."
