Post-combine mock draft changes things at top of draft, but not for Cardinals

The NFL combine has concluded and NFL teams are in the next phase of their evaluations. We have measurements and athletic testing numbers for a number of players, which will affect where they land in the 2024 NFL draft.

In a new mock draft from Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar, there is a shakeup at the top of the draft with trades, but that doesn’t change anything for the Arizona Cardinals.

What happens in these projections?

Before the Cardinals' pick

Malik Nabers 8 as the LSU Tigers take on Texas A&M in Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, November 25, 2023.

In this scenario, the Washington Commanders trade for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, so they use the second overall pick in the draft to take a receiver, but not Marvin Harrison. They select LSU wideout Malike Nabers.

Then, the Las Vegas Raiders trade up to No. 3 to select Jayden Daniels, reuniting him with Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, who was on the staff at Arizona State when Daniels played there.

Pick No. 4: Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

Nov 18, 2023; Columbus, Ohio, USA;

This seems like an easy pick. The Cardinals land the player that has been connected most to them. However, with only two quarterbacks off the board, don’t rule out a trade back. The Giants end up with Drake Maye but could want to move up to No. 4 to avoid another team from jumping them.

Pick No. 27: Missouri CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

The Cardinals had four rookie cornerbacks last season, two of whom they drafted. Rakestraw gives them another young, lean corner who is willing to play physically.
