Two Good Samaritans in Stockport have restored a crown to its rightful place — after rescuing it from a roof. Adam Taylor and Bernie Street were cleaning premises on Heaton Moor Road early on Saturday morning (May 21) when they noticed the knitted post box ‘crown’ had made its way onto a pharmacy veranda.
It’s not clear how it got up there — but Adam believes it was ‘thrown’. Adam and Bernie refused to leave the craft project up there — and instead deployed their ladders. They also used some other cleaning equipment to rescue the stricken knitwear.

“We were cleaning the road at about 5:30am this morning,” Adam, 31, told the Manchester Evening News . “We noticed it on the veranda next door.
“Someone had taken it and thrown it up there. We got the ladders out and we used a reach and wash [window cleaning] pole. We dusted it off and cleaned it.
“We live in the town centre so it’s on our doorstep. It is our community, and we are looking after it.”
Adam and Bernie, 46, shared their good deed on Facebook, and won plaudits from residents. “Thanks to whoever saved it and put it back for us,” Linda McDowell commented. “We spent many hours on making these and all we wanted to do was make people smile.”
Nicola Doxey added: “They look amazing, a lot of hard work has gone into making these to brighten up our community. It's a shame there are always the idiots that have no respect.”
