The Alleged Tee-Throwing Incident (I’m not calling it TeeGate, NOPE) that went down between Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy on Tuesday at the Dubai Desert Classic has seriously escalated.
The TL;DR: Reed — a member of LIV Golf, which McIlroy has heavily criticized — went to say hi to McIlroy, who ignored him. When Reed walked away, he threw a tee at or near McIlroy. It was the subject of some questions to McIlroy on Wednesday, and the golfer definitely threw some shade at Reed, whose lawyer also apparently served McIlroy a subpoena on Christmas Eve last year.
Amid all this … possible video of the alleged event appears to be all over social media. And, well, the tee throw wasn’t all that much of a thing. That said, if this is indeed video of it, you can see Reed looks kind of miffed and McIlroy ignores him.
