Roberto Martinez chose to rotate members of his Portugal squad for the last group game, with only Diogo Costa, Joao Palhinha, and Cristiano Ronaldo keeping their places, but the former Everton boss will no doubt revert to his first-choice XI here. Rafael Leao was suspended for the game against Georgia and should return to the side today, although Martinez may be tempted to hand Diogo Jota or Francisco Conceicao a start on the left wing.
Midfielder Tomi Horvat left the Slovenia squad camp to be present at the birth of his daughter, and while he’s now back in Germany he’s not expected to start here today. Left-back Erik Janža is suspended, so Alanyaspor’s Jure Balkovec is likely to fill in, but beyond that head coach Matjaž Kek is unlikely to tinker with his starting XI, meaning Andraž Šporar and the highly-rated RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško will continue their strike partnership in his favoured 4-4-2 formation.
