At Portland State University, a recent incident involving anti-Israel agitators and police officers has garnered attention. The situation unfolded when police officers in riot gear were dispatched to clear out an encampment at the university library. This action led to a confrontation with several agitators who were armed with makeshift shields.
Video footage captured the moment when a group of protesters attempted to charge at the officers who had established a police line. In the midst of the chaos, one of the agitators collided with an officer at full speed, resulting in the individual being knocked to the ground. Additional officers quickly intervened to apprehend the assailant.
The Portland Police Bureau confirmed that 'several arrests' were made at the library as part of the efforts to disperse the encampment. The protesters, a mix of PSU students and external agitators, had occupied the library earlier in the week, demanding that the university divest from Israel before vacating the premises.
Following failed negotiations between university officials and the anti-Israel groups, Portland State University President Ann Cudd announced the closure of the library. She emphasized that any unauthorized individuals found in the area were engaging in criminal trespass and were required to leave immediately.
