Porthcawl Elvis Festival 2019 line up, how to get tickets, where to park and how to get there

The annual Elvis Festival is returning to Porthcawl once again and this year there a few new events to look forward to.

It's Europe’s largest gathering of Elvis aficionados, with more than 1000 shows and events across 20 venues in the town, all celebrating The King.

Porthcawl's Elvis Festival brings in huge crowds each year and you can expect to see all sorts of Elvis-inspired costumes at the event.

Here's what you can expect at the 2019 event.

When is the Porthcawl Elvis Festival?

This year, the Elvis festival is taking place over a weekend in September.

It's running from Friday September 27, until Sunday, September 29.

What can I expect?

Every year, thousands of Elvis fans head to the seaside town - this year will be no different.

There'll be loads of shows at The Hi Tide bar, while the Grand Pavilion will host plenty of Elvis-themed events.

There's also a fringe festival will be taking place across more than 20 local venues.

What are the highlights?

The annual event unites more than 300,000 Elvis fans from across the world, making the scale of the celebration remarkable.

A "Best Dressed Hound Dog" competition, sees pooches donning iconic outfits and accessories including sunglasses and rhinestone capes.

New for this year, there's also a LGBTQ+ Elvis category at the festival.

How do I get there and where can I park?

If you're travelling by car, take M4 junction 37 - most of the normal public parking in Porthcawl will be available throughout the festival, although Mackworth Road is likely to be closed and there is no parking at the Hi Tide.

Salt Lake car park in Porthcawl is well located for the festival events and costs £5 per day - it's located on the Eastern Promenade.

By train - the nearest station is Pyle, from which you'll need to catch a bus into the town.

How much are tickets?

Many of the events are free, but you'll have to pay for some of the bigger shows.

The various paid-for shows cost between £6 and £27.50.

Where can I get tickets from?

Some events have sold out already, as you'd expect from such a popular gathering.
