The most successful manufacturer in British GT history will make a full-time return to the top division in 2025, as a Porsche 911 GT3-R will contest the forthcoming season.
A record-breaking 16 British GT titles (five overall) have been won by a Porsche, but the German marque’s last championship came in 2012 while it has not appeared full-time in GT3 since 2022.
Team Parker Racing will operate the 911 and it will be shared by Porsche factory star Sven Muller and the 2018 British GT4 Pro-Am champion Nick Jones for eight of nine rounds.
Muller will be replaced by the 2024 Porsche Supercup runner-up and series debutant Harry King at the Spa-Francorchamps weekend (21-22 June), as the GT veteran has a clashing commitment.
“I’m very excited for this season and my first time in British GT,” said the 2016 Porsche Supercup champion, who also drove three rounds of the 2024 Le Mans Cup alongside Jones which included two podiums.
“It’s a pleasure to partner with Nick for a second full season. We got to know each other really well and enjoyed a lot of success last season in the Le Mans Cup, so we want to improve on that and fight for some more trophies in British GT.
“I’m excited to start testing and working with Team Parker Racing for the first time. I think it’s going to be a really fun year ahead.”
Jones is a staple of the Team Parker fold, having driven in British GT with the team from 2017 to 2023 during which time he took an outright victory at Donington Park in 2020. He is now back in the championship after racing overseas last season.
“I’m really looking forward to being back in British GT this year and reuniting with both Team Parker Racing and Sven,” said Jones.
“Sven and I have struck up a great relationship over the last season and a half, he’s both brilliant to work with and a top driver to have in the car. It made sense to continue that for this year and keep learning from him.
“Also being back with Team Parker is like coming home. I’ve known the team for so long and I’m just really excited to get back into action.”
Although a Porsche last featured in British GT3 full-time three years ago, it has made two one-off appearances in the top class since then.
The first came courtesy of Team Parker in 2023, when it entered two 911s for the Silverstone 500 but both cars finished outside of the points.
Last year, meanwhile, 2 Seas duo Phil Keen and Ian Loggie switched from Mercedes to Porsche for the penultimate round at Donington Park - a two-hour race in which they finished fifth.
Porsche is more regular in the GT4 class though, as Team Parker entered the opening six rounds of 2023 with a 718 Cayman, while the same model was raced by Xentek Motorsport for the penultimate round last year.
The Team Parker Porsche is the 15th GT3 entry so far confirmed for the 2025 campaign, which begins at Donington on the 5-6 April.
