A driver was airlifted to hospital after a Porsche plunged off a road before a two-car smash on a diversion route in the highlands.
The incident happened around 11.05am a mile north of Tyndrum on the A82 northbound and involved a white Porsche GT3 which left the carriageway and rolled down an embankment.
The driver, a 50-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken by heli-med to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
His condition is described as stable.
Road Policing Officer Fraser Easton said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the crash to get in touch.
“I am also asking anyone who may have dash-cam footage that could assist our enquiries to contact us.”
The road was closed while crash investigation work was carried out and a diversion of 62.5 miles via the A85 to Oban was put in place.
Later that afternoon, emergency services were called to a horror smash on the diversion route - on the A828 at Appin House at around 2.25pm.
A car and a lorry collided at Castle Stalker at Appin and a 47-year-man was arrested with a road traffic offence.
He has been released pending further enquires.
Anyone with information or who witnessed crash cab contact officers on 101, quoting 1976 of Friday, August 19.
