Porsche billionaire files for divorce from elderly wife 'due to her dementia'

A member of the billionaire Porsche family has allegedly started divorce proceedings against his elderly wife due to the fact she's suffering from a 'dementia-like illness'.

Porsche executive Wolfgang Porsche filed for divorce from Claudia Porsche after saying that her poor health has changed her personality, the Mirror reports.

Sources close to the couple - who have been together since 2007 and married in 2019 - say the 74-year-old's illness has made living with her 79-year-old husband extremely difficult.

The grandmother has been living closer to her daughter for almost two years and now requires four carers who attend to her all hours of the day. According to the family, Claudia has been unable to move independently for months and her mental awareness has declined rapidly.

The news comes as media in Germany report that Wolfgang has been allegedly getting closer to his friend of 25 years, Gabriela Prinzessin zu Leiningen, 59, in recent months while his wife is unwell.

Wolfgang Heinz Porsche is a German-Austrian shareholder and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE, as well as of Porsche AG.

He is the youngest son of former Porsche AG designer and Chief Executive Officer Ferdinand 'Ferry' Porsche and Dorothea Reitz with his oldest brother Ferdinand 'Butzi' Porsche designing the first Porsche 911.

Wolfgang who currently resides in Zell am See in Austria has four children, two which he shares with his ex wife director and screenplay writer Susanne Bresser who he was married to from 1988 to 2008.

The Porsche family's assets are estimated to be around £18billion.
