Porro question, Sessegnon starts - Tottenham lineups Conte and Stellini should pick vs Man City

Tottenham and Man City go head-to-head once again on Sunday after only meeting in the Premier League just over two weeks ago. Taking a two-goal lead into the break at the Etihad Stadium, Antonio Conte's men unfortunately couldn't hold on to their advantage as the hosts hit four second-half goals to turn the game on its head.

Faring very well against City ever since Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened its doors for the first time back in 2019, Spurs will be looking to make it five successive home wins against Pep Guardiola and Co. It remains to be seen if Conte will be on the sidelines this weekend, however, as he underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder on Wednesday, thus meaning it could be Cristian Stellini in the dugout.

So who will be in the Tottenham team on Sunday against the Premier League champions? Our football.london Tottenham Hotspur reporters have named the sides they believe Conte and Stellini will select.

For the first time in a long while, Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini will have a full Tottenham squad to name their starting XI and bench from. It means there will need to be some difficult decisions made, even over which players miss out on a place among the substitutes.

Richarlison is back from his adductor problem, Lucas Moura finally returned to training after his tendon inflammation problems and Pape Matar Sarr has been involved in sessions after his small hip injury.

Conte, who is set to decide the team with Stellini, whether he is back for the game or not after surgery to remove his gall bladder, also has new signings Pedro Porro and Arnaut Danjuma in the mix, while Matt Doherty, Djed Spence, Bryan Gil and Harvey White all headed out of Spurs in the final 48 hours of the transfer window.

Emerson Royal has played well against Manchester City in the past and knows Conte's tactics well, but Porro played in a similar system with Sporting and to see the club's top target starting would give the crowd a lift. Playing against his old team on his debut would also likely see a very fired up Spaniard. However, Conte may revert to who he trusts in such a big game.

Elsewhere the other choices will come on the left, in the back three between Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet, and at left wing-back between Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon. The Croatian had a nightmare against City at the Etihad Stadium but the faster Sessegnon has not been in top form in recent weeks.

Gold's team: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Son.

The main decision Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini have to make is whether or not new signing Pedro Porro is handed his Tottenham debut. Having signed on the dotted line on Tuesday, the Spaniard will have had a good couple of days to work alongside his new teammates.

Maybe a no-brainer for some to bring him in from the off, Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski did in fact have to settle for a place on the bench in their first Spurs game 12 months ago. Spurs may feel that is the best approach with Porro, while Emerson Royal has fared very well in his last two games against City and his defensive play is going to be needed against their eye-catching attack.

Another key decision comes on the left as Ivan Perisic had a nightmare for three of City's four goals at the Etihad Stadium last month, with Ryan Sessegnon doing well defensively at Preston North End but failing to take his opportunity in the final third. The rest of the team picks itself with everybody back to full fitness.
