Popular West End garden centre to open second luxury premises

The West End Garden Centre is set to open a brand new luxury premises in Gartcosh in the coming months.

The new centre, Homegrown Garden Centre will be launched by Glasgow based couple Martin and Stephanie McCarron following the success of their first store, which sits in the heart of Glasgow’s west end and already has a community of loyal customers and local friends.

The new store is currently in the final stages of development and will be opened in March this year, following the regeneration of the land and building that was previously occupied by Mount Ellon Golf Club on Lochend Road.

Homegrown has already received funding through the North Lanarkshire Council Business Recovery Growth Fund and has received support from local Councillors.

Owner Martin McCarron said: “Homegrown will be a new garden centre experience. Set in nature, our new hub will offer something for all of the family across our gardening, homeware and coffee house departments.

"We are looking to create a space for the whole community, somewhere to spend the afternoon and enjoy the surroundings.

"We cannot wait to open our doors to individuals, families and community groups and welcome everyone to come and share in the Homegrown experience."

Labour councillor, Michael McPake, said: “The welcome opening of Homegrown garden centre will bring much needed regeneration to the land and building area currently unoccupied and derelict on Lochend Road.

"The new store will bring a range of new amenities to people living in the surrounding areas and will provide new opportunities through jobs and community activities.”
