A North East chocolatier is busy creating their mouth-watering Easter egg range that promises to be the stuff of dreams for sweet-tooths.
The Chocolate Smiths, based in North Shields, are known for putting a unique twist on chocolatey treats, and they are offering three new Easter egg flavours this year.
Their eggs are each filled half-and-half with two gooey fillings: the Hazelnut Cookie Dough eggs are half milk chocolate filled with cookie dough, and half white chocolate filled with white chocolate hazelnut spread.

There’s also the Peanut Clutter Marshmallow Fluff eggs - one half contains salted caramel and peanut butter, while the other half is filled with sticky marshmallow fluff.
And finally there are the Billionaire’s Easter Eggs, which are half white chocolate filled with gooey milk and dark chocolate, and half milk chocolate with salted caramel and shortbread, dubbed “the ultimate Easter treat.”
The chocolatiers will also be offering surprise limited edition runs of their most popular egg flavours from previous years in the run-up to Easter.
All of The Chocolate Smiths’ indulgent inventions are created and wrapped by hand at their chocolate factory in the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate.
Founder Steffi Smith started The Chocolate Smiths when she was just 22 back in 2014, after being inspired by her mum’s chocolate shop when she was younger.
The local business shot to fame after a shout-out from body coach Joe Wicks led to their social media followers trebling overnight.
They now have over 170,000 followers on Instagram - and when they’re not making mouth-watering Easter eggs, the chocolatiers are famous for their indulgent flavour combinations in their Bizarre Bar range.
Among The Chocolate Smiths’ most popular bars is the Peanut Clutter - a milk chocolate bar filled with peanut butter, salted caramel and shortbread.
Another is the Salted Caramel Brownie Bar, which has a centre made to taste like brownie batter with chunky fudge brownie pieces.
More unique flavours include the caramel apple pie and marshmallow fluff Bizarre Bars, as well as the Birthday Cake bar - made of white chocolate with shortbread, raspberry jam and sprinkles to give the taste of cake batter.
One of their newest creations is the Neapolitan Ice Cream Bizarre Bar, a milk chocolate bar with a strawberry and vanilla filling, topped with waffle cone and drizzled in white chocolate.
The Chocolate Smiths are also staying true to their roots by supporting other local businesses - the wrapper designs for their Geordie Chocolate Bar and Nana’s Biscuit Tin bar were created by local artist James Dixon of design company Lines Behind.
The Geordie Bar is milk chocolate filled with caramel and topped with a solid chocolate gold heart - because “a true Geordie is hard on the outside, but soft on the inside, with a heart of gold”, according to the chocolate makers.
Nana’s Biscuit Tin is a collaboration with Northumbrian Bakehouse, and has buttery shortbread and ginger snaps “to remind you of having a trip round to your Nana’s.”
