Popular young teacher dies suddenly leaving a 'huge hole' at primary school

A young teacher with a "loving heart" has dies, leaving the school community she worked at with a 'huge hole' in their hearts.

The headteacher has paid tribute to the popular teacher, after she died unexpectedly aged 26.

Rachel Morgan taught at Kells Infant School, Cumbria, and has been described as a "passionate" teacher who "enjoyed" teaching the students and being staff.

The year one teacher joined Kells in January last year, having previously worked in other local schools and touched a lot of young lives.

While the cause of Rachel's death has not yet been disclosed, the school is set to close on January 27 so staff can attend her funeral..

The school will re-open as usual on Monday.

Headteacher Wendy Figes has paid tribute to her "thoughtful and kind" colleague, reports The Sun.

She said: "Rachel Morgan had worked as a teacher at Kells Infants School since January 2022. Prior to this appointment she had worked in other local schools and touched a large number of young lives."

Ms Figes continued to add that while Rachel was at the school, she oversaw the development and improvement of the curriculum alongside having a "particular interest" in the mental health and wellbeing of the children.

She added that Rachel ran after school clubs supporting children with their mental wellbeing, running mindfulness and yoga classes.

T"Rachel was passionate about children and enjoyed being with them," she continued.

"She had a calm, quiet manner and made everyone feel at ease in her presence. She was thoughtful and kind. Rachel’s love for the community she served really shone through and it will be this loving heart we will miss the most.

"Losing Rachel has left a huge hole in our school community but our deepest sympathies are with her family and friends in their time of grief."
