A popular Swansea bar is set to more than double in size. The Swigg has quickly become a firm favourite since it opened in Swansea Marina five years ago.
Due to this success, owners Ruth Clement and Vas Salvarinas are expanding into the unit next door. You can read more Swansea stories here.

Co-owner Ruth said the expansion, which is set to be complete by summer, will mean that their usually packed bar will have more room for its patrons. She said: "We're knocking through the entire wall, we can expand our bar space by three times. We want to add more toilets as well as have a lot more floor space that's going to be filled by furniture and hopefully a DJ booth. We can then give people the option to have a dance if they want, but the space will be mainly with seating. The DJ booth will also give us the ability to host bigger parties on bank holidays and even private events."
Ruth said the extra room will give them more kitchen space, meaning they are looking at expanding their already popular menu. "We are going to look at options such as antipasti, and we are definitely going to expand the menu, we're not sure yet exactly what the new menu will look like but we will have the option of possibly some more snacks and things."
The expansion comes just as businesses around the marina area have benefitted from the opening of Swansea Arena. You can read more about that here. The Swigg has also seen a rise in trade with Ruth saying the Friday that the arena opened was their busiest Friday of the year so far.
She said: "It's been brilliant for us. Once the path from the LC reopens it'll be even better. We think we will see a lot more passing trade. We've been here for five years, I think it's time we got a little more indoor space."
