THE owners of two of Glasgow’s most popular Italian restaurants have revealed plans to expand "north and south of the Border".
The DRG, owner of Paesano Pizza restaurants as well as Sugo Pasta, aims to open new locations of each within the next year as part of expansion plans.
The owners, who also have Di Maggio’s, Café Andaluz and Amarone chains in their portfolio, told The Herald they plan to open three more restaurants in the next 12 months.
One of the Paesano locations is to be Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands in the south side of Glasgow.
It will be located in the former Di Maggio’s premises.
Paesano's third location is expected to officially open this summer. It joins sites in Glasgow's west end and city centre.
The DRG, which is owned by Mario Gizzi and Tony Conetta, bought the the two brands last year.
Conetta said: "Within 12 months, we expect to have doubled the number of Paesano and Sugo restaurants to six.
"And we have firm aspirations to further expand north and south of the Border in the years ahead.”
Gizzi added: “The integration of Paesano and Sugo into our wider operations has been virtually seamless.
"It’s gone exactly as we would’ve hoped, and the shared ethos of high-quality dining and superb, authentic ingredients has already proved to be a winning formula.

"Much of the credit goes to the highly professional teams we inherited as part of the deal.
"They have integrated really well into the wider group and the feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The pair are also in “advanced discussions” to open their first diner in London as part of its plans to expand Cafe Andaluz.
The chain recently opened branches in Newcastle and in Stockbridge, in Edinburgh.
