Popular high street retailer Marks and Spencer has announced it is returning to Stockport with a huge new food hall, creating dozens of jobs.
It is expected that the store will be opening at Peel Retail Park this summer. This comes after M&S closed down it's Stockport store in Merseyway shopping centre in 2021.
The new 16,000 sq ft food hall promises to offer a 'fresh market-style design'. The store opening is set to create more than 70 jobs.

Sacha Berendji, Retail Operations Director, said: "Whilst other retailers go online, or sadly disappear, we are committed to having great shops. This means having the right store, in the right place, with the right space to serve our customers the way they want to shop today. We’re really pleased to confirm our plans to invest in Stockport by opening a new M&S Foodhall that will create around 70 new jobs for the local economy and will offer local customers a brilliant place to shop our wide range of M&S Food products.
"This announcement is just one example of our store rotation strategy being put into action across the North West, where we have secured some outstanding sites – including a strong pipeline coming in the Trafford Centre and Liverpool ONE later this year. We want our customers across the North West to experience the best of M&S and these new stores will bring together our digital and physical services to deliver a fantastic shopping experience."
The confirmation of the new M&S food hall at Peel Retail Park in Stockport comes as part of a £34m investment in new and existing stores in the north west. A new full-line store is set to be created at the former Debenhams site at the Trafford Centre with another full-line store being created in Liverpool.
Also included in this investment is a new food hall in Macclesfield, opening November 30. The store in Bury's the Rock was also enhanced through this investment.
Mark Whittaker, Executive Director – Property Investment and Management - at Peel L&P, added: "It is brilliant to be working alongside M&S to deliver another brand-new offering for our local community and customers to enjoy at Stockport Retail Park. We have built a strong and trusted working relationship with M&S across our Peel L&P Retail Parks portfolio and we are proud to be bringing such a well-loved, quality brand to our Stockport Retail Park, M&S will be a great addition and we wish them every success."
