Popular restaurant in Swords announces sad closure over 'spiralling costs'

A hugely popular restaurant and bar in Swords has announced its sad closure after four years in business due to the cost of living crisis.

Shaker & Vine Wine Bar, which is renowned for its fresh, delicious meals and creative beverages has confirmed that it had come to the heartbreaking decision to close its doors. Taking to Instagram on Thursday night, Shaker & Vine Wine Bar wrote: "It is with great sadness that we must announce our closure with immediate effect.

"Running a restaurant of this calibre isn't easy or cheap and with spiralling costs of operating it, versus how many people we need to come in the door, it just became unviable. I would like to thank all our regulars for your support over these last four years, especially through the pandemic."

The owners of Shaker & Vine said the last four years has been a "rollercoaster of a journey" and that it must now sadly to come to an end. Anyone who may have reservations with the restaurant are asked to contact them on email reservations@shakerandvine.ie with any queries.

Social media users were saddened to hear of the popular restaurant and wine bar's closure. One person commented: "Very sorry to hear this our favourite restaurant in Swords, best wishes to you all."

A second said: "One of the best restaurants in Swords. Hardly anywhere with decent quality left. Rising energy and food costs crippling businesses. Sorry to hear this, better days will come."

A third added: "Definitely a massive loss for Swords, ye will be missed for sure. Best of luck in your new ventures."

The news follows as several other popular eateries announcing their departure from Dublin’s food scene in recent weeks. Last week, popular BBQ spot Smokin Bones announced the closure of its premises in Walkinstown after two years in business.
