The Christmas holidays are almost upon us and passengers travelling through Dublin Airport who are looking for a quick pint are in luck as a well-known pub is back open after refurbishment works.
The Gate Clock pub is located in Terminal 1, and over the years it has proven to be hugely popular with passengers waiting for their flights. In recent months, the pub has undergone a face-lift and has been reworked as a traditional Irish pub.
Th Gate Clock reopened this Christmas week and now includes a menu of toasties and sandwiches alongside local and international beers. A coffee hatch has also been added to the side of the bar area to serve barista coffee with a local speciality coffee brand and takeaway food and drinks, extending the service to feature a grab & go offer.
Dublin Airport tweeted the news on Wednesday with two photos of the new pub, writing: "The bar is now officially re-open! Good news for passengers travelling out of Terminal 1 after The Gate Clock pub opened its doors once again today following a full refurbishment. Perfect for a pre-flight drink or nibble…"
Social media users were delighted to see the pub reopened. One person tweeted: "It's not a holiday until you've had a pint in the Gate Clock at 6 in the morning."
A second commented: "Awh this place brings back memories of waiting for the B gate flights back in the day!!" This week hundreds of thousands of passengers are expected to fly through Dublin Airport to catch flights home, and the Dublin Airport Authority has given assurance that security delays will not hamper Christmas plans for those travelling over the festive period.
