Slice Pizzeria, the Stevenson Square spot that did irresistible Roman-style pizza by the slice, is to return to the NQ. It will set up shop at Arlo’s bar from this Saturday (July 30).
Slice closed its doors in early 2019, for a refurbishment, but never reopened. However, the place was a favourite in the Northern Quarter, where pizza fans could pick up the square slices and a beer or a spritz all day and into the night.
Owner Matt McGuirk had planned to re-open in another location last year, on Oxford Road, but is now set for the bar on Hilton Street instead. Pizzas on offer on opening will include a margherita with fior di latte mozzarella and Italian tomatoes, a Vegan Rustica with vegan mozzarella, vegan pesto genovese, rustica semi-dried tomatoes and rocket and its famed Broccoli Sausage, with fior di latte mozzarella, broccoli, red chilli and pork sausage.

He’ll also be serving up pizza biance, with no tomatoes, with toppings including mortadella with pistachio, mozzarella and rocket, porchetta di montagna, mozzarella and rocket and vine tomato, mozzarella, rocket and pesto genovese.
Arlo’s is open seven days a week, until late, and Slice will be serving from 12pm to 8pm every day. You can check for new creations on Slice’s Instagram.
Plenty of pizza spots have sprung up across the city since Slice closed its doors, with the likes of Nell’s, Voodoo Ray’s, Four Side, Corner Slice and Ramona going down the single slice route, as well as serving up full size pies.
