Popular Paisley cafe wins TripAdvisor award for the second time

A Paisley cafe has won a Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award for the second year running as they earned a place in the top 10 per cent in their category.

Taste Buds is a family-run cafe which was bought by Elaine Templeton, her sister Tracy Johnstone and best friend Susie Mitchell in 2017 to make it their own.

The cafe is a real hit with Paisley Buddies as many customers of the business come back religiously as they enjoy the experience and interaction with the staff.

Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express, owner Elaine said it was an “amazing feeling” to win the award again after the hard work the staff have put into the business.

She added: “I can’t explain how much of an amazing feeling it is to win this award as it really shows the hard work the staff put into the business to make it the best we possibly can.

“We really value our customers and we consider them part of the family as we want to get to know them. I can tell you where certain customers like to sit and what they usually want. It is a relationship that I really like to build with them.

“It isn’t just me, everyone knows the customers and they know us. I like the idea that we can make it feel like home for them as we treat everyone as if we are their only contact and conversation for that day.

“I know that not all customers who come into the cafe want to talk, and we can recognise that but I like to let them know that we are always there for them.”

The Tripadvisor award was announced by the venue on social media as a flood of congratulations piled in with family, friends and customers all replying to the post.

One comment said: “Looking forward to seeing that happy dance this morning,” while another said: “That is fantastic news ladies, looking forward to seeing your dance”.

The seven-strong team have built a great reputation in the community despite the cafe not being on the high street. The building is located on 22b Lawn Street and the team at Taste Buds say that they have relied on word of mouth for a long time, as well as social media, to attract customers to the business.

Speaking about the reaction from their loyal customers about the reward, Elaine has said the response was “unbelievable” and she is “thankful for their loyalty”, especially during lockdown, which Elaine admitted was difficult.

The cafe owner said: “The customers who have come in have been amazing when they have heard about the award and the response on social media has been unbelievable.

“It is such a great feeling that the customers care about us as much as we do about them.

“Like for everyone, lockdown was really difficult and when customerswho would normally come to the cafe
and sit in chose to get stuff from our takeaway service on the same days it was amazing.

“When we reopened it was a scary time as we didn’t know how it would be but the customers were amazing and came back to support us.

“I would like to just say a massive thank you to all of them who come into Taste Buds as they make us who we are.”
