Popular Nottinghamshire micropub relocates and rebrands with exciting additions to drinks menu

A popular micropub in Nottinghamshire has relocated - and the owned has shared what to expect at his brand new, bigger premises. With new ‘Instagramable’ features, Totally Tapped has moved to 104 Chilwell Road in Beeston - just 100 yards away from where it used to be based.

The micropub, set up six-and-a-half years ago, has rebranded slightly. With a dark green theme and pops of colour inside, owner Rob Witt is hoping for more footfall at the new location.

Rob is no stranger to the industry, having set up the Totally Brewed brewery nine years ago. Talking about the relocated Totally Tapped, he said: “We have more room here - before at the old place, staff would have to squeeze around the bar but now there’s a bigger space.

“Our seating area is almost exactly the same, customers like the cosy interaction.” Totally Tapped has five members of staff.

Local to Beeston himself, Rob added: “Everything here is quite premium - we don’t do cheap Carling, it’s premium craft beer so the prices can be a bit higher. Our customers are usually older - we do get a few undergraduates but it’s mostly postgrads and teachers.”

Prices at Totally Tapped range from around £3.10 to £10. It has four cask beers and 11 craft beers with one popular drink currently being 4 Hopmen of the Apocalypse.

Speaking about how business has been lately, Rob said: "We're typically busy on a Friday and Saturday but Saturdays have been getting quieter. Sunday afternoons are good - a lot of our locals know each other too so they tend to come in at the same time."

With plans to create an outdoor space in the garden which is still being renovated, Rob added: “We’re adding a small range of cocktails to the menu, too, which are all my recipes, and we’ll have a wider range of gins and spirits.

“I’m hoping we’ll have much more footfall here with us being near the tram stop. We’ve rebranded, we’re moving along and changing slightly.

“We’ve got help from a branding specialist and we’re looking forward to welcoming more customers.” In Beeston, people have spoken positively about the relocated micropub.

Angelo Reece, 31, lives in Beeston. The delivery driver said: “I noticed this place earlier - it’s got a good reputation. I've been there before a few times.”

Angelo added: “There’s always people walking up and down here and there’s the tram that stops right outside, too, where new customers who might not have been there before can try it.” Felix Smith, 26 lives in Stapleford.

Felix, who works in marketing, said: “Beeston is full of independents and I think they get a lot of support from people. Since this place has built a reputation for themselves, I’m sure they’ll pick up more regulars here.”

Student Joseph Baggs, 21, added: “Beeston has good places. I enjoy the Beeston social scene - you really don’t need to go into town. I’ve never heard of Totally Tapped so it’ll be nice to try it.”
