Popular McVitie's biscuit makes return to British supermarkets after four year break

McVitie’s have announced the much-awaited return of BN biscuits, the iconic biscuit that has had a four-year hiatus from UK supermarket shelves.

The nostalgic family-favourite will once again be available in the UK so we can all ‘Taste the Smile’.

The golden-baked biscuits, sandwiched together with a flavoured filling of either chocolate, vanilla or strawberry, are back on shelves in four different product variations.

McVitie’s returning range will include BN Chocolate, BN Vanilla, Mini BN Chocolate and Mini BN Strawberry flavour.

The biscuits are available in Asda now and other major supermarkets from February, all for £1 each.

McVitie’s BN’s will be available in family sharing packs of 16 biscuits and Mini BN’s in recyclable boxes of five portion packs, in Asda from 27th January 2022.

The BN biscuit was first manufactured in 1932.

A widely successful relaunch in the UK in 1999 saw them become family favourites with the adverts spoof on the famous ‘Mah Nà Mah Nà’ song.

The relaunch has been accompanied by many social media posts from happy shoppers.

Joey Tamburello wrote: “Yes @McVities! BN biscuits are back at Asda.”

Natalie commented: “BN biscuits are a thing again.”

Though many have also quipped on the theme tune being stuck in their head for the entire day.

One shopper joked: “You're welcome for this song being stuck in your head as it is in mine", another shopper joked after tagging their friends.”

French company Biscuiterre Nantaise who make the smiley snack may be hoping that recent trends in Britain help sales, with market research company Kantar finding that during the pandemic, Brits spent more £20m more on biscuits.
