Popular Manchester craft brewery and taproom announces 'gutting' closure

A craft brewery in Manchester has announced it is shutting down after almost ten years in operation to the disappointment of fans.

The owners behind Alphabet Brewing Company, which is based on North Western Street in Ardwick, announced their closure in a post on social media on Friday afternoon (April 14).

The brewery, which launched in 2014, was behind a number of hop and fruit-led session beers including the tropical IPA Juice Springsteen. In addition, their onsite taproom was open to visitors whilst the brewery ran private tours every month.

In a statement, the brewery posted: “Today we have to announce the end of Alphabet Brewing Co. We’d like to thank everyone who drank a Juice Springsteen, popped down to the Taproom and supported us.

“We love you all for making our dreams of having an independent brewery in Manchester come true. Cheers, Team ABC.”

The announcement was met with upset from fans, who described it as ‘gutting’.

TV producer Ilona Burton posted: “Gutted, I love a Juice Springsteen. Sorry to hear this x”
