Popular Lidl snacks recalled over salmonella fears

Discount supermarket giant Lidl is recalling a popular snack range over fears some of the packs could contain salmonella. The recall covers 200g packets of Lidl Alesto Californian roasted and salted pistachios.

An alert issued by the Food Standards Authority (FSA) reads: "Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps." The affected packs have the best before date of October 4, 2022. Anyone who has bought one of the affected packs can return it to a Lidl store for a full refund, Mirror Online reports.

Lidl shoppers do not need a receipt to get a refund, and the supermarket has said it will be putting up signs in stores to explain the problem. A Lidl spokesperson said: "Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

This year Lidl also recalled a batch of its 240g Deluxe stuffed dates - also because of salmonella within some packs.
