Popular kids' clothing store in Ballyfermot closing down after almost 30 years

A popular kids' clothing store in Dublin has announced the sad news that it will close down at the end of March, after almost 30 years in business.

Topstore, which is located in Ballyfermot, is a baby and children's clothing store, selling christening outfits, uniforms, and more. The store first opened almost 30 years ago before it was taken over in 2004 by current owner Jackie and her family, who led the business for over 19 years.

However, this week the owners of Topstore announced that they are closing down at the end of this month. Taking to Facebook, owner Jackie wrote: "It’s with a very heavy heart that we are announcing that after 19 years leading the business, we will be closing our doors at the end of the month.

"I starting working in Topstore 27 years ago and took over in 2004. It’s been an amazing journey with working with my daughters Amanda and Stacey, family and incredible staff who are now my best of friends and all our wonderful customers, it’s be such a pleasure to meet ever single one of you and being part of your lives and the community over so many years and seeing families grow and having generations of families shop with us," said Jackie.

She added that they will miss "all the chats and the laughs" and helping their customers get ready for the arrival of a new child, christenings, Christmas, school uniforms, communions and all the other special occasions over the past three decades. Before they close down, Topstore in Ballyfermot is also having a big closing down sale to say goodbye.

Jackie added: "I want to thank all of you and my family for all the support over the years, I really really appreciate it. Lots of love, Jackie & my incredible team."

Social media users were deeply saddened to hear of the popular store's closure, which comes as many small businesses and shops are struggling amid the cost of living crisis. One person wrote: "So sorry to hear that Jackie hope all is well good luck for the future lots hugs."

A second added: "Aw will be sad to see Topstore go have been buying uniforms and children's clothes for years out of here even got my eldest boys communion suite girls are always smiling and helpful will be hugely missed."

A third person commented: "You will be sadly missed and thanks so much for everything over the years."
