Popular Irish pub reopens as photo shows damage after truck crashes into bar

A well-known Galway watering hole has announced its reopening after a truck crashed into it, causing damage to its historic front.

Last week, The King's Head, one of the oldest and most iconic pubs in Galway city, was crashed into by a truck, Galway Beo reported.

The licenced premises took to social media to share the news, with a picture showing its seriously damaged front wall.

In spite of the incident, The King's Head stated that they are already welcoming punters inside once again, with the tagline: “it’s business as usual”.

Taking to Facebook, they announced: “Last week a Truck hit our 800 year old building. Despite this, it's business as usual! Buail Isteach.”

Taking some comic relief, the iconic pub posted an image of an old-looking ‘letter’.

It read: “Please excuse our appearance. In this, the year of 2023 our walls were breached by a surprise attack. We were not vanquished and our walls stood firm. We will rebuild our ramparts in due course (le cúnamh De) but, for now - our Ale still flows freely!”

Viewers enjoyed the pub’s humour with several commenters joking with them online.

One said: “I’m dying at this! Well played for being able to laugh at such a sh*te situation. I was in the street right after it happened and couldn’t believe it.

Another wrote: “No way - oh well we have to visit to check all is in order!”

Someone else wrote: “Goes to show how strong this building (Old Historical Establishment) is. Best wishes to you Paul, family staff not forgetting all your wonderful customers.”
