A HIGHLAND pub “at the foot of Ben Nevis” has been put on the market.
The Grog and Gruel in Fort William has been put up for sale for an asking price of £625,000 with agents Christie and Co.
The agents said: “The Grog and Gruel comprises a traditional ground floor bar and a restaurant on the first floor, along with a fully fitted commercial kitchen and a beer garden to the rear.
“The property is located on the main high street in the town of Fort William, which sits at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles which attracts tourists, hikers and climbers throughout the year.”
Fort William also marks the end of the West Highland Way, a popular hiking route which begins in Milngavie, and the start of the Road to the Isles, the connection to the port town of Mallaig.

“Given the central location within the town's pub and restaurant circuit, an experienced operator should be able to easily continue current levels of trade, with the established workforce in place,” the agents said.
Brian Sheldon, regional director at Christie & Co who is managing the sale, added: “The sale of The Grog and Gruel offers a discerning purchaser a first-class opportunity to acquire an established business which has the ability to grow turnover and profit.”
The Grog and Gruel has a 4.1 star rating from some 2750 reviews on Google.
“Great little bar and restaurant in town,” one four-star review said. “Everything we had were good apart from nachos. The service was great. There is some parking on the street.
“The place is usually packed with tourists. There is enough seating but at busy hours you might have to wait to get seated.”
A five-star review said: “This pub is a great pub in Fort William. It has a fantastic section of whisky and great section of local brewed ale.
“The restaurant upstairs offers a tasty section of food and you will not go hungry for long. The staff are very helpful and the decor is well though out too.”
