A popular Newcastle restaurant and takeaway has announced its sudden closure.
Prima Express was loved by customers for its authentic Italian and British cuisine, serving fresh pizza, pasta, chicken, burgers and Sunday lunches from its restaurant on Chillingham Road, in Heaton.
But on Saturday evening the restaurant announced that it had now closed down. In a post on their Facebook page, Prima Express said the news was "very sad".

The restaurant also thanked the "loyal" customers who dined at Prima Express, with one local replying to say Prima Express was the "best place" on Chillingham Road.
The post read: "Hi everyone. We are very sad to tell you, Prima Express is closed down. Thanks for being a loyal customer and using our services. Ciao"
The restaurant also shared the message to the local Chillingham Road Heaton Facebook group, with locals responding to say how sorry they were to see the restaurant close.
It comes just days after ChronicleLive reported that Chillingham Road is to become one of five streets in Newcastle's East End to be included in a regeneration project. Newcastle City Council confirmed it is handing out grants to small businesses and community groups to help revitalise Heaton, Walker and Byker.
The £2.8m pilot project was launched earlier this year in the hope of bringing empty shops back into use, funding new public art and green spaces, and staging local festivals and other community events. Chillingham Road, Heaton Road, Heaton Park Road, Welbeck Road and Shields Road will have access to grants worth up to £25,000 for empty properties and up to £10,000 for events.
