To Glasgow foodies, the sandwiches at Silk Road Deli are more than familiar - so we’re delighted to hear that the piece gurus are extending their opening hours this month.
The south side deli, on Minard Road in Shawlands, will be open later on Friday and Saturday evenings - and they are even switching up the menu just in time for summer.
Taking to Instagram, they wrote: “As the days are getting longer, the nights are a little lighter and springtime sun is breaking through, all of MAY we are open LATE on Friday + Saturday evenings with BYOB and a NEW sandwich menu. 'I'd never go out to dinner for a sandwich' you say? Well, it's 2022 babes.”

You can have a gander at the new menu on Instagram - with the deli promising “crunchy, bold, adventurous, delicious things between bread” and “big flavour” as they rustle up pieces inspired by India, China, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand and Japan.
We’ve already got our eyes on the green goddess fries with peanuts and lime, as well as the onion bhaji brioche bun.
Oh - and the hot spring roll with hoisin and tahini sauce looks right up our street...
Actually, we might have to try the lot. Thank goodness they are staying open late all May, so there is plenty of time to work through the menu.
The deli is also BYOB, and will offer takeaway, if you fancy enjoying a bite in the evening sun, or a chance to sit in.
“Bring some beers, a bottle and your pals,” they added. “Unique neighbourhood hangs, courtesy of us.”
We don’t know about you, but we know where we’ll be for the rest of the month...
