A popular food festival in south Wales is set to return after a two-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Newport Food Festival has been one of Newport 's most well-attended events since it began in 2010. The free festival features more than 75 stalls on the city's streets selling homegrown and international foods and attracts hundreds of festival-goers each year.
It was due to hold its 11th event in 2020 but was cancelled by Newport City Council over health and safety fears arising from the pandemic, and was not held in 2021 either.

But the council has now confirmed the festival will return this year on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
Council leader Jane Mudd said: “I’m delighted that we can start preparing for the 2022 Newport Food Festival after an unavoidable hiatus.
“It attracted fantastic producers and suppliers both from the local area and slightly further afield and many thousands of visitors since its inception in 2010.
“I know it has been sorely missed and its return will be welcomed by all those who appreciate great food, a great atmosphere and a great day out.
“Preparations are at an early stage for the 11th Newport Food Festival but we want all the elements that have made it such a hit in previous years including amazing traders serving up and selling delicious food and treats and activities for all the family.”
Information about how to apply to have a stall at this year’s Newport Food Festival and what will be on offer will be put on the festival website as soon as it is available.
