Popular Edinburgh restaurant's £250k makeover to see huge kitchen and pizza classes

An Edinburgh restaurant has announced they will be temporarily closing to undergo a huge revamp worth a quarter of a million.

Gusto's Italian on George Street have confirmed the impressive transformation will take place over the coming weeks, with the new and improved site to open in time for the Edinburgh festival.

Working on a new look for both the interior and exterior of the venue, the restaurant will be shut from July 11 until August 2, and will reopen with some exciting new features. Currently, Gusto's has an outdoor terrace as well as their inside eating areas, which includes a mezzanine floor and semi-private dining room.

Keeping it's size and layout during the £250,000 renovations, the restaurant has confirmed the new venue will include a huge open plan kitchen which will be running DIY pizza classes.

Designed to run the 'Pizza Experience', groups will be able to get their hands dirty with their own ball of dough as they make some of Gusto's finest dishes alongside advice from the chefs, along with a few glasses of fizz.

In addition, the new kitchen will provide a "theatre experience" which will allow diners to watch their dinner getting put together.

Gusto Italian Edinburgh General Manager, Sarah McNab, said: “We can’t wait to see what our guests think of our Pizza Experience and I’m confident they’ll love our new look. The open kitchen will drive such energy to the surrounding tables with chefs demonstrating their impressive skills and interacting with diners, and we’re confident this will be one of the most vibrant kitchens in Edinburgh.

"The Pizza Experience is sure to be a huge hit with guests, it’s such a fun interactive experience, perfect for group get-togethers, work nights out and celebrations! My team and I can’t wait to welcome our guests back in on August 2."

Along with a striking interior and exterior redesign, Gusto Italian Edinburgh will also reopen with an extended offering, serving both brunch and bottomless brunch across the weekend with dishes ranging from classic full breakfasts to smashed avocado on toast, served alongside fizz or signature Gusto Italian brunch cocktails including the Breakfast Pornstar Martini and Bloody Mary.
