A popular Indian and Nepalese restaurant in Edinburgh's Old Town wants to create an extension in their back garden.

The City of Edinburgh Council validated the plans from Solti on Drummond Street recently.

The Drummond Street eatery has proven to be extremely popular since they opened in 2020, so much so that they are now having to extend their premises.

Diners can enjoy a variety of options, from the tapas lunch offering, to street food classics and there’s even a late night lounge where you can relax with cocktails.

The most popular items on their menu include the crispy hollow puri served with a filling of masala potatoes and crispy vegetable samosa with a layer of double cream yoghurt, tamarind chutney and fresh pomegranate.

The planning documents show that Solti now want to extend their premises and create a new building in the back garden.

This would increase their capacity by roughly 22 covers, and would enable them to cater for over 120 people in future.

The family-run restaurant is part of the Gautam’s restaurant group and boast of “authentic dishes completely fresh” with a “world of flavours and spices.”

The City of Edinburgh Council are expected to make a decision the planning application in the coming weeks and months.
