Greens Sports Bar in Dumfries is set to reopen under new management.
The pub, in St Michael’s Street, closed during the pandemic restrictions in November, 2020, and has lain empty since.
However, owners Star Pubs and Bars, which operate under the umbrella of lager giants Heineken, have lodged a planning application to turn the venue into a family-themed bar and restaurant.
They are also looking for a new boss for the premises.
The bid for Greens lists proposals for conference and restaurant facilities, bar meals, club and group meetings, dance facilities plus theatre and films.
The owners hope to open at 8am to serve breakfasts, teas and coffees plus host pub quizzes and movie nights.
A spokesman for Stars Pubs and Bars said: “We are keen to reopen Greens as soon as possible. It is a beautiful old pub. It had a loyal following and was known for having a great sports offer pre the pandemic.
“We envisage that it would retain its reputation for sports going forward.”
He added: “There is no refurbishment planned at the current time.
