Popular dessert and cheesecake takeaway shuts for four-week holiday

A popular Ayrshire cheesecake shop has shut down for one month.

The Cheesecake Guy, based in Kilmarnock, has closed for a summer holiday that's set to last four weeks.

The dessert takeaway on High Glencairn Street has been a favourite among foodies since it opened in May last year.

Run by Robert Steel, the chef quit his job at the Lochside Hotel in New Cumnock during lockdown to open the Kilmarnock store.

Now staff are having a well-earned break until August 11.

"So me and my team have came to a decision today that we’re all in need of a few weeks off," The Cheesecake Guy Facebook page posted.

"As of July 11 we will be closed for 4 weeks and reopen on August 11.

"All pre orders that have been taken between that time will still be made and ready for their collection date but we will not be open to the public."

People have traveled from all over Scotland to sample the chef's sweet treats, which include customer favourite 'The Big Dirty' which is Galaxy Caramel, brownie cookie dough, chocolate and caramel sauce, chocolate fudge sponge and a biscuit base in a 500ml jar.
