Popular Curry Mile restaurant clarifies situation after announcing 'closure until further notice'

One of the Curry Mile's most popular restaurants has issued an update on its sudden closure. Yesterday, Mughli on Wilmslow Road, announced it would be closed 'until further notice'.

While the reason for the charcoal grill's closure was not initially confirmed, the situation has now been clarified. In posts shared to Twitter and Instagram Stories this afternoon, the restaurant confirmed that a burst water pipe is the reason for the temporary closure, but the restaurant would be up and running again soon.

Mughli, on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme, is one of the area's longest-standing restaurants, having been established in 1991. Serving up Indian soul food and twisted cocktails, the eatery has welcomed a number of famous faces over the years, including Ed Sheeran, who turned up one night with the late cricket legend Shane Warne, as well food writing legend Nigel Slater, Girls Aloud and actor Jared Leto.

Taking to social media to clarify the situation after a number of concerned fans and diners expressed their concern, Mughli wrote: "Yesterday when the team came in to prep for the busiest weekend of the year, we came to find a burst pipe had flooded our entire kitchen and dining area.

"The team have been working non stop since Thursday afternoon to get everything back up and running safely, but unfortunately it looks like we will be closed tonight too. Thank you to everyone who has reached out in the past 24 hours, all your messages and love is what is keeping the team going."

Yesterday, the restaurant posted the initial closure news and said it would be reaching out to those with bookings. A tweet from the restaurant, which was posted at 8:15pm on Thursday night (December 15) read: "Closed until further notice, for dining in, takeaway or delivery… sorry guys! Keep eyes and ears posted on our social channels for updates."

“If you had a booking with us, we’ll get in touch,” they added. It prompted a wave of well-wishers, with many expressing their hope that everything ‘was okay’ at the restaurant. The restaurant's latest post states that it will most likely be closed this evening (Friday, December 16), while they fix the issue.
