A popular event in the Perthshire summer calendar is set to return this year.
Crieff Highland Gathering announced last week that it is planning its best-ever Games at Market Park on Sunday, August 21.
The committee has already lined-up some star attractions to complement the programme of traditional Highland Games competitions, which has been absent for the past two years.
Directors said they are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Market Park in 2022, adding this year’s event will be called ‘The Platinum Jubilee Crieff Highland Gathering’ to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.
Anna McLean, chair of Crieff Highland Gathering, said: “The Royal family are proud supporters of Highland Games in Scotland and the Queen’s grandson, HRH Prince William – the Earl of Strathearn – is our Royal Chieftain.
“We are working harder than ever to make sure this year’s Games are bigger and better than ever after our two-year absence.”
Music will also play an integral part of what is regarded by many as Scotland’s premier Highland Games.
Mrs McLean continued: “We are also planning an incredible music line-up for Games Day and we are absolutely delighted to confirm that the most famous bagpipe band on the planet, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, will be part of our magical day.
“The world famous act – described as bagpipes with attitude, drums with a Scottish accent and a show so hot it carries its own health warning – will be performing ‘bagrock’ to our visitors.
“After the last two years we cannot begin to explain how excited we are about everyone joining us on August 21.
“Myself and the rest of the directors will be working tirelessly to ensure we are back with an amazing day for the whole family to enjoy.”
Directors added that they will be making more exciting announcements in the coming weeks and months.
