A popular coffee shop chain has announced its latest Manchester location as part of a double-deal for a city centre shopping mall.
Black Sheep Coffee will open its fifth Mancunian cafe in the Arndale. It’s set to call the retail centre home for decades, signing a 20-year lease.
In another deal, bosses at the Arndale have announced craft shop The Works will stay in the mall. It’s signed a five-year lease.

Black Sheep will take over a 4,187 sq ft unit on Market Street. Starting in London, co-founders Eirik Holth and Gabriel Shohet say Manchester has ‘a special place in the Black Sheep journey’.
The deals also show confidence in Manchester’s retail scene is growing, according to Steve Gray. He heads up the European retail division at Global Mutual — the asset managers for the Arndale.
“Manchester is a city known for its café culture, and we’re delighted that Black Sheep Coffee has chosen Manchester Arndale for its latest location,” he said. “Already a firm favourite among locals and visitors alike, we’re looking forward to welcoming the independent operator which will provide a great stop off point for those exploring all the centre has to offer.
“We are also pleased that The Works has committed its future to Manchester Arndale. The store is a key driver of footfall for the centre and this new agreement is a clear sign that retailers have confidence in the long-term future of Manchester Arndale and its position as one of leading retail destinations in the north west.”
